The dual nature of light as beautifully enticing and detrimental is present in my work, where glares of graphite thinly veil the scratching and burning of my obsessive, excessive hand. The light I encapsulate in the drawings is seductive-- inviting to overgrown moths. I tempt desires to overindulge and enter a comfortably hypnotic state of seeing; forget that skin scorches, wings melt, and eyes burn. Unafraid of being overwhelmed, my drawings are playgrounds of quicksand, places of folly and frivolity where light bores with the underlying violence inherent to making a mark.
